Charles Ischi AG wins InnoPrix SO! by Baloise CH for our innovative DISI Evo disintegration tester

Charles Ischi AG Wins the InnoPrix SO! 2024

Charles Ischi AG has been awarded the **InnoPrix SO! 2024** for its revolutionary pharmaceutical testing device, the **DISI Evo**. The family-owned company, based in Zuchwil, has specialized in testing devices for tablets and capsules for over 30 years, setting new standards with its innovative technology.

In the pharmaceutical industry, it is crucial to precisely measure how quickly a tablet or capsule dissolves in the human body. This disintegration time is essential for the effectiveness of a medication, as it directly influences the release and impact of active ingredients.

With its new disintegration tester, the **DISI Evo**, Charles Ischi AG has made a significant contribution to advancing pharmaceutical testing. The device enables pharmaceutical professionals to collect and analyze significantly more data on the disintegration characteristics of their products. Today’s manufacturers produce a wide range of tablets and capsules, some containing multiple active ingredients that must be released sequentially rather than simultaneously. Additionally, certain medications require rapid or slow disintegration for optimal efficacy. Rigorous testing is therefore critical to ensure that these medications perform as intended.

DISI Evo is designed to test a variety of tablet and capsule types, including mini-tablets, which are gaining popularity due to their ability to provide precise and individualized dosing for patients. Using specially developed micro-disks, the DISI Evo can test even the smallest tablets, a feature often lacking in conventional systems. The device is also compact and user-friendly, addressing the growing cost of laboratory space by maximizing efficiency.

The DISI Evo was developed in collaboration with highly skilled regional partners, highlighting both the innovative strength of the Solothurn region and Switzerland’s role as a technological hub. This close cooperation with local experts underscores the company’s commitment to supporting the region and fostering local expertise.

With over 55 international representatives and a clear mission to advance the pharmaceutical industry, Charles Ischi AG is a prime example of Solothurn’s innovative spirit. “Our goal is to support pharmaceutical companies in producing tablets and capsules of the highest quality and to ensure that medications taken by patients deliver the desired effects,” says Arwid Ischi, who took over leadership of the company from its founder and his father, **Charles Ischi, in 2024.

Charles Ischi AG impressed the jury of the InnoPrix SO! foundation, which supports Solothurn’s economy, and won the prestigious award along with a prize of 25,000 CHF.

The foundation’s jury emphasized the maturity of the idea and its versatile applicability in a specialized field as key factors for this year’s decision. Charles Ischi AG stands out as a Swiss company with strong ties to the Solothurn region, combining decades of expertise with forward-thinking innovation.
